December is here, but it's not too late to support our friars and help share the good news of God’s love with a tax-smart gift in 2022.

Consider these options for end-of-year giving:

  • Donor-advised funds (DAFs): If you have a DAF, you can still recommend a grant to the Franciscans this year. If you do not yet have a DAF, most can be created in a few days, and you’ll receive a tax deduction for contributions to your fund.
  • Appreciated securities: While giving stock when the market is down may seem counterintuitive, giving long-term appreciated securities can still be a wise option. You will receive a tax deduction for the full market value and won’t pay capital gains tax.
  • IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD): If you’re 70 1/2 or older, contact your plan administrator to make a QCD from your traditional IRA to the Franciscans this year. QCDs may count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) and can be particularly beneficial for non-itemizers.
